Height safety compliance is complicated and full of risk around legalities, liability and indemnity. If you let workers onto your roof, you assume criminal and civil liability for keeping those workers safe and ensuring they can access the roof safety.
Essential Height Safety has a comprehensive knowledge of all Height Safety OHS legislation, Australian Standards, and codes of practice. You can trust the trained and accredited experts to protect your company from civil and criminal risk and protect your workers from the risk of a fall at height.
Did you know, that with Height Safety there are generally 4 levels of fall protection? These include fall prevention, fall arrest, fall restraint and lastly administrative controls.
Fall prevention is the highest form of Height Safety protection, removing the risk to the worker by creating a barrier from the hazard,
Fall arrest does not prevent a worker at height from falling. Rather, it arrests the fall of the worker once the fall has already happened. As such, this is the least favourable method of protection but is still useful if other means are not possible or practicable.
Fall Restraint Systems offer a Height Safety System which restricts the movement of the operator to limit their access to the fall edge, effectively acting like a leash.
Fall restraint systems like Static Lines require significant user competency and system training to ensure that they are used correctly.
Administrative controls do not physically offer fall protection or fall arrest from a fall at height.
Administrative controls include enforcing a safety policy which trains workers and requires them to adhere to other fall protection measures. It can also include the prohibiting any un-restrained worker from approaching an edge, and placing a safety observer or warning line near a roof edge.
